There are two ways to participate:

1. Five-Day City Dance Workshop and Performance on August 7th - 11th.
What: City Dance performance workshop facilitated by Taira Restar and Audicia Lynne Morley.
When: Tuesday August 7th - Saturday August 11th.
Where: Venue #180. State Theta Galleries and sites in Edinburgh City Centre.
Who can participate: Open to professional dancers, anyone who ‘just loves to dance’. Those without previous dance/art/performance experience are welcome.
Cost: £325. Concession £300.

About Five-Day City Dance Workshop and Performance on August 7th - August 11th:

  1. What: Based on Anna Halprin’s approach to movement, dance and improvisational performance, participants engage in preparation for and performance in City Dance Edinburgh. Preparation will also include creating performance scores based on Lawrence Halprin’s Collective Creativity Model, R.S.V.P. Cycles. A fabulous opportunity to experience this internationally recognized approach and to perform at The Fringe.
    • Day 1-3 will include creative exploration and preparation
    • Day 4, ensemble building and creative exchange in the environment.
    • Day 5, all participants perform City Dance Edinburgh gather for post-performance reflection.
  2. When: August 7th - 11th; 10am-6pm.
  3. Where:Explorations throughout city centre and at State Theta Galleries. Map of performance sites will be posted on this web site nearer to performance day.
  4. Who can participate: Open to professional dancers, artists, Musicians and performers those who ‘just love to dance’ and those without previous dance/art/performance experience. Everyone welcome! In celebration of Get Scotland Dancing.

What: Spontaneously join into the City Dance performance.
Where: City centre, Edinburgh. Performance site map will be posted on this web site closer to the performance day.
Who can participate: Open to public. Everyone welcome!
Cost: Free of charge.

About the performance of City Dance Edinburgh on August 11th:

  1. What: Spontaneously join into the City Dance performance. Just show up to witness the performance, to interact with the performers, or to perform yourself. City Dance performers will invite witnesses to spontaneously join into portions of the performance. No previous dance experience needed. City Dance is based on daily life movements such as walking, carrying, and pointing, which makes it accessible to everyone.
  2. Follow the performance on Twitter for real-time updates.
  3. When: August 11th 11am-2.00pm
  4. Where: City centre, Edinburgh. Performance site map available on this web site nearer the performance day and can be picked up at State Theta Galleries, East Lothian.
  5. Who can participate: You! Whether you are a professional dancer or someone who ‘just loves to dance’ or you have no previous dance/art/performance experience, join us. Everyone welcome. In celebration of Get Scotland Dancing, our goal is to have 100 dancers from Scotland and beyond! So turn up... and bring a friend!
  6. Cost: Free of charge.
